2018 Speakeasy Gewürztraminer

SPEAKEASY Gewürztraminer is a stylish, enticing example of a full flavoured, cool climate wine showing the true expression of the Adelaide Hills region.

Vineyard: Fruit sourced from the Kuitpo area

Vintage Conditions: The 2018 Adelaide Hills vintage was characterised by the highest rainfall in 24 years during 2017. Moist soils meant flower development was optimal but wet conditions produced lighter than average fruit set. Hot and dry weather conditions during fruit ripening favoured full development of colour and flavour over the long, dry summer.

Vinification: Machine-picked in the early morning to retain natural acidity, the fruit was de-stemmed and pressed to stainless steels tanks and inoculated with an organic yeast strain. Post ferment, the wine was kept on lees for 6 months with stirring to promote complexity before clarification, light filtration and bottling.

Tasting Notes: Colour: Vibrant pale straw with a rose-gold tint

Aroma: Perfumed and aromatic, it show delicate notes of autumn blossom, rose petal, Turkish delight and a hint of exotic spice.

Palate: A natural rich mouthfeel coupled with subtle underlying acid creates a complex, richly textured wine bursting with a plethora of flavour.
